A-G Requirements
for CSU/UC Admissions
California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC)
A-G Requirements:

A - 2 years History (World & U. S.)

B - 4 years English
-
C - 3 years Math (Up to at least Int Math 3)
4 years recommended -
D - 2 years Science
(At least 1 must be Biology, Physics, or Chemistry) -
E - 2 years World Language (must be same language)
3 years recommended -
F - 1 year VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts ) i.e. Fine Arts, Music, Drama, etc.

G - 1 year CP-Elective (e.g. Government/Economics)
The CSU and the UC systems recommend that the student take more than the minimum requirements. The grade earned in college prep classes must be a “C” or higher to be accepted by the college. For the UC, 7 of the 15 required courses must be taken in the last two years of high school. For more information about A-G courses, see California Colleges or The UC Website.
PRIVATE COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY REQUIREMENTS:
Most entrance requirements are similar to those required by the University of California. The college or university catalog or web site should be consulted.
CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma, 18 years of age, or the California High School Proficiency Exam.
NCAA Eligibility
for Division I, II, & III Collegiate Sports
16 Core Courses Required: What are core courses?
Not all high school classes count as NCAA core courses. Only classes in English, math (Algebra 1/Int Math 1 or higher), natural (life) or physical science, social science, foreign language, comparative religion or philosophy may be approved as NCAA core courses. Remedial classes and classes completed through credit-by-exam are not considered NCAA core courses.
Class options that are NCAA core courses include:

Math: Algebra 1-3/Integrated 1-3, Geometry, Statistics

Natural or Physical Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics

Social Science: American History, Civics, Government

Additional: Comparative Religion, e.g. Spanish 1-4 (World Languages)
